St Peters Historic Conservation Trust at Auction
Theodore Bruce Auctioneers & Valuers is delighted to bring to auction a collection of items from Adelaide’s St Peters Historic Conservation Trust. Among the selection is Australian cedar furniture, antique brass scales, timber ballot boxes and the original St Peters Council Mayoral Dias, c.1883.
A Slice of St Peter’s History
In 1996, Adelaide’s St Peters Council (now part of the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters) established the St Peters Historic Conservation Trust to hold and manage artefacts from the Town of St Peters. Considered to hold historical value, the items included portraits of former Mayors and Council Members, maps and documents, Mayoral robes and the gold Mayoral Chain.
Also among the collection was a selection of Australian cedar furniture – including the original St Peters Council Mayoral Dias created c.1883, the leather upholstered “Mayoral Throne” (pictured) and councillor’s desks – which we are now bringing to auction.
Mathew Goode, a Trustee and a former Mayor of St Peters, said: “The proceeds of the auction will be used for projects which relate to the history of the former Town of St Peters, such as the digitisation of old St Peters Council records and the display of retained historic items”.
Theodore Bruce is presenting this as a live auction on site in Adelaide, with bidding also available online.
